Most passive attorney ever

I hired Todd to help me with my divorce. To be honest, I feel like all he did was forward me emails from my x-wife's attorney- "what do you want to do?". At no time did he offer me any ideas, suggestions, what I could and could not do. I'd post some of my exchanges here, but I'd rather remain anony...mous. He was just a very expensive message taker to be very frank. After coming on here and looking at other reviews- I guess my biggest issue is it appears that he spends more time defending himself on these reviews than on actual case work for his clients. That is what I PAID him to do for me, but I don't feel I he worked half as hard. I don't know if the outcome would have been any different, but I can't help but wonder if it could have been a different outcome had he offered more help.

I appreciate my client taking the time to write a review. Ethically, I am not permitted to respond in any detail to the specifics of my client's case, as to do so may violate the attorney-client privilege. I can say, however, that I am not passive in the representation of my clients. I can also say that I am certain the services I provided far exceeded simply forwarding my client emails and asking him "what do you want to do?" The client does have the ultimate authority to decide the material issues in his or her case. As such, I am certain that, at times during the litigation, I did ask my client how he wanted to proceed, as I do in every case, and as I am ethically required to do. I wholeheartedly disagree, however, that I never offered any ideas or suggestions, or never discussed possible courses of action. I am dedicated to zealously representing my clients, which includes explaining the law to my clients, explaining how the law applies to the facts in his or her case, and explaining the potential courses of action and the likely outcomes. I have done this in every case in my more than 26 years of practicing law, and I will continue to do so. I do wish that my client had discussed these issues with me during the case so that I had the opportunity to further explain his issues of concern. As always, I wish my client the best. Todd R. Worthless

Go hire another attorney. $6,000 attorney fees and travel expenses got me nothing. The other party hired a much better lawyer and got everything their client demanded.

I do understand that family law litigation is very emotional, and that the outcome of litigation often leaves the participants angry and upset. Ethically I cannot comment on the specifics of my client's case without violating the attorney-client privilege. I can say, however, that it is very seldom in a family law case that one party gets everything they demanded, and I know for a fact that this was not the outcome in this case. The majority of family law cases, like most civil cases, settle before trial with negotiation and, often, mediation or a settlement conference. Settlement allows the parties to have control over the results of the litigation while avoiding the stress, uncertainty and costs of trial. Before settlement is final, I make sure my client understands the terms of settlement, understands the ramifications of the settlement terms, and, most importantly, that the client agrees with the terms. I do not force my clients to settle, and I am fully prepared to take the case to trial if a reasonable settlement cannot be reached. While representing clients for over 26 years, I have never forced a client to accept settlement terms that he or she was not comfortable with. I am also confident that I have never allowed a client to agree to a settlement unless the client fully understood the settlement terms. Whether to settle or to proceed to trial is always ultimately the client's decision. I am dedicated to providing quality legal services to my clients at a reasonable cost, whether the case concludes by settlement or after trial. I will continue to do so. I wish my client the best in his or her future endeavors. Todd R. Worthley

Excellent Attorney at a Fair Price

I've hired Todd numerous times throughout the years and he has delivered consistent service that is done well and at a good price. I recently worked with Todd for my divorce case and I was very pleased in how efficient and knowledgeable he worked with me to figure out the main negotiation points and ...drive the divorce to a successful conclusion. Thank you Todd!
