Shelly K. Perkins founded Perkins Law, LLC in August of 2010. Prior to founding Perkins Law, LLC, Shelly worked as a Deputy District Attorney researching and preparing cases for trial, conducting hearings, and negotiating plea agreements. In addition, Shelly practiced family law and provided legal support for two small businesses. Shelly’s specialty in family law has seen her through the filing of hundreds of domestic relations cases and countless hours in the courtroom. Due to these prior experiences, Shelly is able to provide solid footing for her clients that face the unfortunate, yet inevitable, chaos that surrounds divorce, custody, parenting time, and support issues. Shelly’s business acumen, acquired during her dual undergraduate degrees in Business Management and Information Systems Analysis and applied during her multiple decade ownership of a small manufacturing business and law firm, lends itself well into complex divorces, business litigation, and contract formation.
Professional Activities
Shelly was formally sworn in as a member of the Oregon State Bar in 1997. She has been a member of the Multnomah and Clackamas County Bar Associations since 2011 and the Oregon Women Lawyers Association since 2016. She is the founder, owner, and primary lead attorney at Perkins Law, LLC, a thriving General Law Practice. Shelly previously served as a Deputy District Attorney for the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office. Shelly has directly impacted the practice of family law through serving on the Uniform Trial Court Rules Committee for Oregon since 2020 and will continue until her term ends in 2025, which advises and recommends changes to the statewide rules for the circuit courts. Shelly presented at the Oregon Family Law Practice for Paralegals in 2020 on obtaining and evaluating financial information. In accordance with Oregon State Bar requirements, Shelly participates in continuing legal education throughout the state. Shelly has attended, almost yearly, the statewide Family Law Conference in Sunriver which provides continuing legal education and up to date practices for attorneys.

If you want your own lawyer to screw you, just hire Shelly Perkins.
Shelly was hired to help me fight a restraining order and help extend parenting time with my daughter. Not only did she have me spend tens of thousands of dollars trying to do so, she got all my parenting time removed. She continuously undermined my case and babbled in front of the judge to the poin...

abandoned me three weeks before trial
Ms. Perkins was hired, performed less than three months of work - mainly through her associate Adrienne, who was excellent - and then quit abruptly less than a month before the trial. She did not understand or advance my case at all. In fact, she undermined it. Do not hire this attorney if you ar...
This client hired my office with Adrienne as the lead working attorney. As this client’s second attorney, we withdrew only after a few months on the case at Adrienne’s discretion for the same reasons his first attorney withdrew. Not all relationships work out, but the work all attorneys performed was top notch. The court agreed that the withdrawal of all the attorneys was warranted.

KEEP LOOKING. THIS IS NOT AN ATTORNEY YOU WANT FOR FAMILY MATTERS
I had Ms. Perkins for my divorce case. She comes across as a tough and knowledgeable attorney. But in reality she is a good sales person. When it came to handling my case, she has done some very serious mistakes that ultimately cost me a lot more money and I lost on those issues. I had to fire Ms. P...
"I practice as a domestic relations attorney as opposing counsel against Shelly in the Tri-County area. I have handled several cases where Shelly represented the opposing party. In my experience she's a professional and tenacious advocate for her clients. I believe a more important skill she possesses is the ability to work with her clients and opposing counsel to help her clients avoid the substantial cost and risk associated with fully contested divorce and custody cases when the parties would be better off working toward a cooperative resolution. I endorse Shelly's skills and professionalism."
"I endorse this lawyer. She is very experienced, well versed in the law and committed to resolving cases with her clients' best interests at heart. She is well thought of by the bench, and an accomplished litigator."
"I endorse this lawyer. Shelly is a skilled advocate and fights hard for her clients. She is a true professional."
"I have worked with Ms. Perkins on several cases and found her to be knolwedgeable and experienced. She works hard for her clients and acts professionally at all times."
"I endorse Shelly due to her experience, integrity and knowledge in family law. She is highly regarded by her peers for good reason. She does an excellent job of advocating for her clients while maintaining professionalism in the legal community."
