More than satisfied

Shannon Kmetic was my court appointed attorney. I looked her up and read all the awful reviews about her and my first instinct was to request another attorney but the timing of my hearing and my out of state residency made it difficult to do. I was able to contact her without much effort and she retu...rned my calls and communicated promptly with every question I asked. She was able to go to court on my behalf without my being present and did the unimaginable and was able to get my probation revoked without any sanction. I never even had to come back to Oregon for any of my hearings. I thought for sure I would have jail time and she was able to do what I never thought was possible. I’m grateful for her and am completely satisfied with her representation. She contacted my witnesses without any problem and followed through with everything she said she would. Thanks Shannon!

The WORST EVER Attorney! Run the other way!

In three years since she's been appointed to me. She has NEVER returned ANY calls or notes I've left for her. She treats me horribly! Like I'm a piece of trash. She has never once sat down at talked to me about my case in three years. She NEVER would show up at my court days. except A few times to ch...ange the date of my court date and then I would never hear from her!

No representation, no returned phone calls

My husband was arrested for DUII after flipping his truck on a winding country road in the early morning hours on a Saturday. We hired Shannon Kmetic to represent him the following Tuesday. We gave her all the paperwork, including the citations for DUII and refusal to perform the FSTs. She assured ...us she would call us the Friday before the DUII hearing to let us know if, in fact, the hearing was occurring. She did not call. We called her numerous times that Friday and received no response. After a stressful weekend, her secretary called to inform us the hearing had been post-poned (2 hours before the actual hearing). She failed to request a hearing with the DMV within the required 10 day window regarding the suspension of his license. She also failed to tell us about a second citation for refusing the FSTs and the court appearance it required. As a result, my husband was issued a warrant for his arrest. Really?! She had all the paperwork! After consulting a different attorney, it was also brought to our attention that she and us should have gone to the refusal to perform FSTs hearing so we could question the arresting Deputy. Overall, she completely failed us in her representation. As a direct result of her incompetence, my husband's license is suspended while he has not be charged with or convicted of DUII and the fine for the FST citation increased by $115. He can't even apply for a hardship license for 90 days. I would not recommend her to anyone.

You're better off defending yourself. A Liar

I don't even know where to begin. Boyfriend was in jail 9 days and never saw her one time. I called her during that 9 days and never got a call back. A couple days after he got out (on $4,000 bail) we got a bill for over $600 for lawyer fees. Huh? She was never there for appointments. Boyfriend staye...d home from work for a phone interview and she never called. Not one time was she available for a meeting. To top it off she went before the judge and blamed the lack of communication on the client. Due to that they were going to put him back in jail to wait for a new trial date so he asked to just be sentenced right then. This woman is the worse attorney I've ever seen. She wears leggings and boots to court. The same outfit for every appearance. I dressed with more respect for the court than she did. We plan to file a complaint with the Oregon State Bar. I have a professional license in a field that's highly reliant on ethics and wouldn't be caught dead treating any of my clients the way she treated us. Apparently she was formerly a prosecutor and doesn't think the rules apply to her. We shall see Ms Kmetic. We shall see.

Experience

Professional misconduct

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 2019.

Reprimand issued in OR, 2019

updated on 01/07/2020

This means the lawyer did something wrong but the bar did not suspend the lawyer. Typically in this case the lawyer's poor behavior is exposed to the public in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior.

Suspension Partially Stayed Placed on Probation issued in OR, 2016

updated on 01/27/2017

Suspension partially stayed means the attorney lost his or her license to practice law for a period of time. When the attorney returns to practice he or she will be on probation, meaning the State monitors the attorney's activities for a period of time in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior.
