A Dangerous Embarrassment to the Legal Profession

It’s difficult to overstate the sheer audacity and unprofessionalism of Mike Vial, a nepotism baby playing dress-up as an attorney in his family’s firm. With a resume seemingly built on family favors rather than merit, this individual is a walking indictment of everything wrong with inherited privile...ge in the legal field. From the start, his behavior exudes arrogance, not competence. Lacking even the most basic understanding of professional ethics, he routinely weaponizes mental health disclosures — in one appalling case, using a legally protected request for reasonable accommodation as a punchline to mock the mental health struggles of military veterans. It’s not just tasteless — it’s dangerous, discriminatory, and possibly unlawful. Rather than engaging in civil, good-faith dialogue, this so-called attorney refuses to speak to his targets unless they “lawyer up,” despite no legitimate legal reason to require it. His approach is less legal advocacy and more bullying — trying to pressure individuals through intimidation and harassment rather than citing any actual statute, case law, or ethical basis. This is not a professional practicing law. This is a spoiled child in a bad suit, abusing his access to letterhead and the false confidence of a safety net provided by a family name. He is a liability to his clients, a stain on his firm, and a discredit to the legal profession. If you’re considering working with or against him, document everything. You may need it — not for legal argument, but to protect yourself from his unhinged, ego-driven tantrums masquerading as correspondence.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
