I have a plaintiff-focused general civil litigation practice, though most of my clients are pedestrians, cyclists, and auto drivers who were injured by other drivers. I have tried well over 40 jury trials, as well as many bench trials and arbitrations. After associating with a Portland personal injury firm, I opened my own practice in 2012. Before changing my focus to civil law, I prosecuted criminal cases as a deputy district attorney in Multnomah and Hood River counties. During law school, I clerked for a Workers Compensation firm and helped manage projects at a transportation planning and traffic engineering firm.
Born and raised on the Oregon coast, I am an alumnus of North Bend High School, Macalester College (St. Paul, MN), and the Lewis & Clark Law School night program. A scholar, competitive athlete, and dedicated community servant through college, my father first sparked my interest in becoming an attorney through his passion and belief in his own work.
Like superheroes and athletes, individual attorneys have special knowledge and strengths in different areas of the law. As a solo practitioner, I enjoy collaborating with other attorneys and putting together the “dream team” to handle the unique combination of issues each case presents.
When I am not working, I enjoy the usual: time with family and friends, gardening, fishing, crabbing, cooking, travel, shooting baskets, kicking the ball around – but I'm really passionate about skijoring. You will find me most cool weekend mornings somewhere on Mount Hood training with my rescued dogs, Roy and Mila, unless she’s elsewhere racing. I am a member of the Cascade Sled Dog Club and a supporter and volunteer for Project Pooch.

"Kate cares about her clients. She works hard to make sure her clients are treated fairly and get a good outcome, and she isn't afraid to stand up to insurance companies in court."
"It can be hard to find a lawyer who is great working with clients one-on-one, highly competent when working with opposing counsel and excellent in trial. I have no doubt that Kate has all three of those traits in spades."
