Georgia K. McMillen

A few years ago, I called Georgia, to represent me in a divorce. I have never been through a divorce or had an experience with a lawyer, and so I was very apprehensive. Yet, after talking with Georgia for the first time I felt at ease. She had many admirable skills, still it was her responsiveness ...and listening skills I remember most, she always answered my phone calls and/or emails almost immediately, she always let me know when she had a court date and so would not be available. I remember, my ex husband was frantic because his lawyer did not tell him she would be on vacation for about two weeks (which was during a crucial time). I was divorced in less than five months. I had a very difficult legal issue and went to Ms. McMillen. I really appreciated how thorough she was and her depth of knowledge on solutions to my problem. She was kind and generous, willing to listen to me yet, She didn't give me false hope but was directly to the point which I appreciated very mu...ch. I know some lawyers will give you lots of hope on a very difficult matter because that is how they make their living... Ms. McMillen right up front didn't want to give me false hope but was very clear about my case. She listened to me, heard me out and gave me her honest opinion. My case was unusual because I needed an attorney to help evaluate a family trust related case to bring to the prosecutor --not defend against prosecution. I selected Ms McMillen for her extensive background in both State and Federal cases where presenting a complaint before the appropriate jurisdict...ion would be a critical decision point. She proved very thorough in asking questions, reviewing any material evidence I could offer and identifying specific laws that may have been violated by the then trustee. Being laser focused and very detailed, she found items that I missed in the trust billing statement, contacted the trust attorney identifying and, in connection with other evidence, gave me possible courses of action and risks I had moving forward including but not limited to applicable statute of limitations to consider. She did all of this in an open and very cost effective (i.e. time efficient) manner -- always managing expectations, timelines and costs. While I ultimately declined to move forward with prosecution due to potential harm to unintended parties should prosecution ensue, Ms McMillen would be an exceptional choice should the need for an effective criminal defense or prosecution case preparation exist.
