Lisa Margaret Volquardsen

Lisa Volquardsen is a Hawaii attorney in Kailua-Kona, who represents clients throughout the Hawaiian islands.  

Lisa has been in her own practice for 7 years and concentrates mostly in the areas of bankruptcy, including chapters 7, 11 and 13, and estate planning.  Lisa completed her undergraduate studies majoring in psychology at Bucknell University in Pennsylvania and received her law degree from St. John's University School of Law in New York City. Prior to moving to Hawaii, Lisa worked for a mid-sized boutique law firm in New York which specialized in management-side employment law, real estate, and insurance defense, mostly representing municipalities, insurance carriers and large banking institutions. While Lisa enjoyed the challenges she faced, she preferred to have a more personal relationship with her clients.  Having studied under some of the most well-known and respected names in bankruptcy law at St. John's, and given the economic turmoil in 2009 at the time Lisa opened her practice, focusing on bankruptcy was a natural step to take.

Lisa's practice is technologically advanced, and geared to working remotely with clients through various web-based applications.  Given the large volumes of paperwork processed for each client, this is often preferred, however, Lisa realizes that technology is not for everyone, and she and her staff will accommodate whatever level of technology makes a client comfortable.  Lisa offers in-office consultations at her Kona and Honolulu offices, as well as various locations throughout the Big Island to accommodate those who cannot travel far from home.

Pricing is done on a case by case basis depending on the client's circumstances.  Lisa will occasionally take cases pro bono (free of charge), or for a reduced fee based upon circumstances.  Chapters 7 and 13 are generally on a flat-fee schedule, and Chapter 11 is billed by the hour.

Lisa is a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association, the Hawaii Bankruptcy Bar Association, the West Hawaii Bar Association, the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, and the American Bankruptcy Institute. She is licensed to practice before all state courts in Hawaii, the District of Hawaii, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and Tax Court.  She offers free initial bankruptcy consultations.

Lisa lives in Kailua-Kona with her husband Eric and their three dogs, Sophie, Maile and Makai. Lisa and Eric enjoy sailing, SCUBA diving, and soaking up the many natural wonders available to those who call Hawai'i home. They are also strong advocates for animals and support animal-related organizations.
