The end of March 2011 my wife and I went to Mr Tillson to have him create an estate plan for us. It should not have been difficult as we do not have a complex estate. We supplied him with detailed information and a $900 retainer check a week after our first meeting. One month later we had not he...ard anything so we called and were told our documents were done and in the mail. Two weeks later still no documents. We called again and were told the same thing. One week later still no documents. Another call and then a message on our answering machine from Mr Tillson himself saying the documents had been sent. Two weeks later still no documents so we went to the office to find out what was going on, the secretary first said the documents were done, and were going to be sent out, but when I asked for them she said they needed about three more hours work. Mr Tillson was not in and I asked if there was another attorney I could speak with. I was told no there was not. No apology for the delay, no explanation, I was treated more as a nuisance than a client. My wife and I talked it over and decided we could not work with a layer that lied to us, so the next day we returned to Mr Tillsons' office to again request the paperwork we had submitted containing our financial information. Again the same secretary told us Mr Tillson was not in and she could not give us our paperwork. We had her call Mr Tillson on his cell phone, we told him we did not feel we could work with him and requested our paperwork and our money back. He set up an appointment with us on Monday July 2nd at 2pm. We took off work to go to the appointment assuming Mr Tillson would be there and offer some kind of explanation as to the delays, (or perhaps even an apology), but when we arrived the secretary just handed us an envelope with our original paperwork and a check for our $900. Again no explanation, no apology. We felt that the whole experience after our original meeting with Mr Tillson was at best extremely unprofessional and, our recommendation is, if you are looking for an estate attorney do not use Mr Tillson or his office.
