J. Douglas Durham

Doug Durham is a seasoned litigator and experienced insurance coverage counsel with a special emphasis on aviation, maritime and commercial litigation matters.

Since 1996 Mr. Durham has represented aircraft owners, operators, aviation businesses and their insurers, litigating cases involving both rotary and fixed-wing aircraft manufacturers, service facilities, repair shops, charter operations, and government contractors, as well as the FAA, lending institutions, and aviation insurers. Much of his practice has involved product liability litigation in the aviation industry, where he has both prosecuted and defended claims arising from multiple deaths and serious injuries in aircraft accidents involving complex metallurgical, structural, and design issues. His experience also includes personal injury litigation involving owners and operators of pleasure boats and personal water craft, and has represented boating insurers in regulatory disputes with insurance agencies. Mr. Durham also represents and advises property and liability insurers in connection with diverse types of losses and claims, and involving virtually every type of insurance policy. Mr. Durham enjoys a wide range of experience in commercial litigation matters, including employment disputes involving wage and overtime issues and federal preemption.

Mr. Durham moved to California in 1991, after practicing law in Chicago for nine years. He is a member of the bar in both Illinois and California.
