Questionable Ethics

I successfully used Mr Fathy in a minor criminal case for defense and the results were sufficient and the price was good, I got the intended result for m money, this was 16+ years ago. Fast forward 14 years. He takes a client, a family member of mine in a restraining order situation, against me. Know...ing the details of my "misdemeanor" history, (Client Privelege/Privacy?) He knowingly used that information/history against me in court and won the case for his client. I ended up paying his clients fees as part of the deal. It really sucked having to hire an attorney to represent me against my old attorney. I know, I could have gone to the BAR, but I was just done, and in reality, he did me a favor because I have broken ties with that family member, much to my pleasure. The restraining order is long expired, and I life is soooo good. Thank you Richard Fathy, thank you! Also, he will brag about his Harvard Law education, yet he degreed at UC Davis, FYI. He has been fair with me in the past, and would not let me hire him without first sleeping on it for 24+ hours. Would not hire again though after playing my own mother against me. e should have declined the case and recommended someone else. I think his liberally biased ego wont let him turn away money though.

Excellent trial lawyer

Yes Rich is foul mouthed and arrogant. But he handled a case for me a few years ago and did a superlative job. The case never should have even gotten to attorneys but the person suing me was inexperienced in business and angry ( a bad combination). The attorney for the other side soaked his client fo...r $120,000 while my costs were 1/2 of that and I was in the position of having to provide all of the documentation, they had only to read it. THe case never went to court (thank God) because Rich absolutely slayed the opposition during depositions. This forced a settlement instead of an expensive and difficult trial. Yes Rich's rate is high. But frequently during the two year process I would wish to respond to some accusation or manuver by the other side. Rich would tell me: I can do that for you but there's no point to it and my rate is $300 per hour. I would begin to protest and want to explain how unfair life is and while I was talking he would yawn and look at his watch. This was Rich's subtle and diplomatic way of telling me I was wasting my money. I learned a great deal from Rich. If you need a warm and fuzzy feeling from your attorney ("oh my goodness that is sooooo unfair") and are willing to pay $350 per hour to do so. Rich is definately not your guy. My settlement was expensive but under the circumstances I believe it was the best that could have been achieved. I feel I was very ably represented, the representation saved me considerable money not to mention anguish and I can highly recommend Rich.

Unethical

This lawyer really messed up on a lawsuit for my husband a few years back, and now we are paying the price. Thanks richard for doing NOTHING. Worst lawyer ever.
