James E. McGlamery

I first saw Mr. McGlamery for help with bringing a lawsuit for sexual harassment and physical assault by a coworker. The coworker had done the same thing to three other employees, although my case wasn't joined with theirs. He accepted the case. I'd seen another attorney before him who was eager to b...e quite aggressive in the matter, but McGlamery explained why that wasn't the best way to proceed. He seemed to be bright, kind, trustworthy, and sympathetic. I felt I was in good hands. After I signed the agreements, it was as though he dropped off the face of the earth. I tried many times to get in touch with him to find out if he'd received medical papers and other documents. He'd told me at the beginning that he was working on a large settlement for someone else and wouldn't be able to concentrate on my case for a few weeks. He said he was on top of it, though, and not to worry. I didn't hear from him for a month, then two, and ultimately had only three subsequent phone calls with him while he claimed he was working on my case. The third call was the final one. He was letting me know that he wasn't taking my case after all. He said I didn't earn enough to make a settlement worthwhile to him. I asked him why he hadn't told me earlier since he knew from the very start I had a low income. No reply. The statute of limitations would be up the following week, and he'd left me no time to see another lawyer. He said he'd go ahead and file the case and pay the fees out of his own pocket, so I wouldn't lose anything. He just didn't get it. He had no idea what I'd lost. I declined his offer, and vowed I would never again file any kind of discrimination suit, nor deal with any lawyer unless forced into it. Above, I've given him an overall rating of three stars because I really don't know what other rating to give. I never got to see his work. .
