Tiangay Madame Kemokai-Baisley

Tiangay Madam Kemokai, a Sacramento attorney (Tiangay Kemokai Law, P.C.... hereinafter Tia) represented me in a matter in 2020. Several weeks ago, i discussed a suit against "Frank" in the amount of seventeen thousand dollars. Tia might have avised me that with lawyer fees, and the fact that the ma...tter wouldn't get heard for at least two years, I would have been better off suing him in small claims court for the maximum ten thousand dollars. Tho not ethically bound to advise me against suit in superior court, it certainly would have been good for her image, and would no doubt have resulted in future referral business. Tia said she would represent me and came to my office so i could sign an agreement to work together and to pick up my retainer of three thousand dollars. She arrived sans contract, stting she would email it to me. i have her my check. A few days later i received Tia's contract, and sensing it had too much 'lawyer lawyer lawyer' un it and not enough 'client client client', i emailed an attorney acquaintance of mine for an opinion. The attorney phoned me back and it took her ten solid minutes to explain all the ways the contract was restrictive ('the most restrictive contract I've ever seen'). I emailed Tia and nixed the deal. She emailed back promptly (7/2/21) stating 'no problem at all. I will put your check in the mail ASAP'. On 7/12/21 i emailed Tia saying 'have you forgotten to send my check?' She replied on 713 saying 'the check is in the mail'. Four days after that i left a voicemail message with Tia asking if there was going to be a problem, and she came over with check the next day. The check bounced. On 7/26 Tia phoned, apologetic. She came to my home at 4:55 p.m. with full payment and stated the check that bounced was written mistakenly on her Christmas account, and that her assistant probably mailed my check (re 'it's in the mail' email) to one of my rentals by mistake. My tenants stated they have never received mail for me.
