My daughter was involved in a situation that required an attorney with a "particular set of skills." We got all that and a whole lot more. Derek cleared his calendar and reacted to our needs immediately. Derek was incredibly professional and competent. He made several personal appearances on my daugh...ters behalf and kept me up to date with every development. The end result of Derek's representation was better than I could have ever imagined. During our ordeal my daughter regularly told me "the thing I like the most is that he always asks me how I'm doing and I truly believe he cares." Don't just walk - RUN! This guy is a criminal! This was the worst experience of my life. I searched the reviews here and saw all positive reviews, but they were all from LegalZoom. What Mr. Decker does is he recruits, he doesn't do law. He is very smooth and knows exactly what to say until you sign o...n the dotted line. I thought I was hiring Mr. Decker, but soon as I gave him the deposit, he did a bait and switch and sent me to a junior attorney to negotiate a settlement with a huge company. They laughed her out of the room! I knew he was a charlatan when I asked him a legal question in an email, and he called to respond with a very vague answer (didn't want to put it in writing). But the worst of this came after Mr. Decker asked for a $10K deposit on what he said would be a $2K job. So, it was a $2000 job, he wrote a contract not to exceed $13,000, asked for 10K up front, then sent me a bill for $22K!!! $22K to negotiate a settlement - maybe 20 emails total back and forth!!! The case was to settle $16K!!! You can't make this stuff up! Despite the contract and emails, he was still bold enough. I agreed to pay him $5K total and he agreed, just to be done, which was double what he said, and it is then the nightmare started all over again - he started blackmailing me. He coerced me into signing a contract that I wouldn't sue him. He wouldn't release my deposit until I signed. I almost went into cardiac arrest! In fact beware, I reported him to the attorney referral program, and they told me it is an increasing problem that attorneys coerce clients into signing non-disparagement clause, so they can't leave bad reviews.
