I began working in the health care legal field when I was still in law school over 40 years ago My first firm represented Sacramento County in cost report audit disputes with Medi-Cal and Medicare and for the next 25 years I continued to do a significant amount of work for hospitals and health systems. Due to changes in the Medicare and Medi-Cal payment systems, my practice in the reimbursement arena has shifted to primarily representing federally qualified health centers.. I have also done work for health care clients in a variety of other areas such as fraud and abuse and related compliance issues and licensing and certification as well as serving as outside general counsel to several federally qualified health centers and a Medi-Cal managed care payor. In that capacity, I have worked on a variety of business matters, including large scale transactional work on behalf of UCLA Medical Center on a contract basis with the UC General Counsel's office when additional legal help was needed during the construction of the Ronald Reagan Medical Center around 2006-2007. My current client base largely consists of federally qualified health centers, plus some rural health clinics and smaller, freestanding hospitals. I have also represented skilled nursing facilties and surgical centers.

Please note, I no longer maintain a "virtual office" in Folsom but there is no mechanism I could find here to delete the reference to me being a Folsom attorney. Covid was the final push to eliminate that expense, since the need I anticipated when establishing a home office in 2012 for perioidic "live" meetings and services I then needed but no longer need such as faxing has now disappeared altogether.
