Dustin E. Owens is an effective, understanding, and efficient attorney. He was voted by Times-Standard readers as the Best of the North Coast – Attorney, in 2015 and again in 2016. Mr. Owens is a former President of the Humboldt County Bar Association, and the Vice President of the Sequoia Park Zoo Foundation board of directors.
Mr. Owens went to middle school and high school in Fortuna, California. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Washington at age 19. At age 23, he graduated summa cum laude from Hofstra University School of Law, a private school in New York. Mr. Owens moved back to Humboldt County immediately after law school to take the bar exam and practice law. When he was first admitted to practice in 2006, Mr. Owens was hired by the Law Office of Christopher G. Metzger. In 2010, Mr. Owens and Mr. Metzger formed Metzger & Owens, Attorneys at Law. In 2012, Mr. Owens opened his own firm in Eureka following the untimely passing of Mr. Metzger. On January 1, 2016, he joined with Laurence S. Ross to form Owens & Ross.
