Ibrahim Emad Agil

Early Life & Background

I grew up in a variety of places and called many of them “home” including San Francisco, Pacifica, San Bruno, Las Vegas, Santa Rosa, Ukiah, and Lakeport. Since I completed Terra Nova High School one year early, I attended college at the age of 16, eventually earning a degree in Fire Technology from Santa Rosa Junior College. For several years, I served as a volunteer Firefighter, EMT, and Hazardous Materials Specialist throughout Sonoma County.

Path to Law

While attending Empire School of Law in Santa Rosa, I became heavily involved in the firearm industry and became a licensed Federal Firearms Manufacturer and Dealer. In addition, I served on the Board of Directors for the Ukiah Rifle and Pistol Club. During this time, other attorneys regularly retained me as a Firearm Expert. Consequently, I graduated from Empire Law School one year early alongside my older brother, and was admitted to the California State Bar in 2018.

Starting My Legal Career

Following graduation, I was immediately offered a position at Weisberg and Miller, LLP in San Francisco, where I practiced civil litigation against a major municipal utility agency in the East Bay Area. From there, I joined the Lake County District Attorney’s Office as a prosecutor. Subsequently, I quickly progressed through their ranks as a Deputy District Attorney, where I handled half of the entire county’s misdemeanor caseload. Specifically, this included Domestic Violence, DUIs, drug crimes, vehicle crimes, violent crimes, property crimes, environmental crimes, sexual assault, attempted homicide, jail escapes, and financial crimes. Furthermore, I managed every case from the initial police report all the way through jury trial verdict.

From Prosecutor to Defense Attorney

After spending a little over three years as a prosecutor in Lake County, I moved back to Santa Rosa and founded the Law Office of Ibrahim “Abe” Agil. Since then, I use everything I learned on the prosecution side — the tactics, the pressure points, the weaknesses — entirely in your defense. Furthermore, even after forming my private practice, I was asked to continue handling and reviewing police reports for the Lake County District Attorney’s Office. As a result, I do not practice privately in Lake County, California.

Giving Back to the Community

After the devastating Tubbs Fire in 2017, rebuilding Santa Rosa became my focus outside of work. As a result, experience in government correspondence, municipal activism, and community advocacy grew significantly. Given this commitment, a deep connection to the people and community of the North Bay took hold.

Outside the Office

Today, I live in Sonoma County with my family, 3 Golden Retrievers and enjoy tending to my 400 gallon tropical salt water fish tank and my Japanese Koi pond. When not working, I enjoy spending time in competitive and recreational target shooting, and surfing at any of the gorgeous lakes surrounding Sonoma, Mendocino, and Napa Counties.
