About me

Recently appointed by the State Bar Board of Trustees to the Executive Committee of the Real Property Law Section of the Bar, I am an AV Preeminent® Peer Review Rated attorney*, recognized by my peers as a SuperLawyer® of Northern California.

Areas of Practice:

I practice in the areas of real estate, business transactions, construction transactions, commercial property leasing, and land use law.

Experience:
After admission to the State Bar of California in 1991, I worked as a litigation Attorney in Southern California. In 1993, I joined Anderson, Zeigler, Disharoon, Gallagher and Gray in Santa Rosa, where I practiced civil litigation, and counseled clients in real estate and business matters, becoming a partner there in 1998. I have negotiated and documented many significant real estate and business transactions, including purchases, sales, leasing and construction of shopping centers, office buildings, wineries, vineyards, ranches, development and subdivision land, estate homes, and the single largest conservation land acquisition in Sonoma County history. I also practice in the area of business formation and sales, construction law, land use, zoning and planning. I represent for-profit and nonprofit businesses, academic institutions, and homeowners’ associations in corporate, governance, and real estate matters. I represent real estate brokerage firms and associations of REALTORS® regarding corporate and disclosure issues and broker risk management. I also assist clients who are negotiating with governmental agencies in real estate transactions, including condemnation-related matters.

Representative Clients:
Private individuals, non-profits, businesses, academic institutions, real estate industry associations, and governments, including the Sonoma Land Trust, Codding Enterprises, Sonoma State University Academic Foundation, Sonoma State Enterprises, the North Bay, Marin, and Oakland/Berkeley Associations of REALTORS®, the City of Santa Rosa, W Real Estate, Prudential California Realty, Summit State Bank, and wineries and vineyard owners.

Education and Membership:
I graduated from the University of California at Berkeley (B.A., English, 1987), and from McGeorge School of Law (J.D.,1991).  I served as the Executive Director of the California Advisory Commission on Cost Control in State Government (1986-1988). I was a writer for the Pacific Law Journal’s Legislation Staff (1989-1990), serving on the Journal’s Board of Editors (1990-1991).  I am a member of the California State Bar (Real Property and Business Law Sections), and the Sonoma County Bar Association. I am admitted to practice in the State of California, U.S. District Court Central District of California, U.S. District Court Eastern District of California, U.S. District Court Northern  District of California, U.S. Court of Appeals Ninth Circuit.

Community Involvement:
I am the past President of the Board of Directors of Congregation Shomrei Torah, the largest Jewish congregation in the region, and I am an active volunteer with the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition and the Volunteer Center of Sonoma County, where I served on the Board of Directors for 14 years. I am also the past President of the Board of Directors of the Santa Rosa Downtown Market.
