An experienced litigator, Austa Wakily represents law firms, securities and real estate brokers, accountants, and other professionals in professional and financial services liability, as well as insurance and commercial disputes in both state and federal courts. Ms. Wakily has a strong foundation in complex civil litigation, ranging from a multi-district lawsuit involving the Federal Deposition Insurance Corporation as the receiver of a failed lender to a class action lawsuit in connection with a $28 million securities investment. Ms. Wakily also served as counsel in a fair housing case involving a former United States ambassador, and has successfully defended an attorney in a highly publicized lawsuit through an anti-SLAPP motion involving an issue of first impression.
Additionally, Ms. Wakily is adept at taking and defending depositions of key witnesses, writing and arguing motions, as well as negotiating settlements.
