I started practicing in criminal defense in Calaveras county as a juvenile and dependency defense. My work was primarily with juvenile defendants and helping parents navigate CPS cases. I moved on to Stanislaus County as a prosecutor. In my five years as a prosecutor I was promoted twice. I handled a single department by myself for several years, resolving over a thousand cases. I conducted several trials when necessary. I worked in a conflicts calendar meaning each case either had multiple defendants, or multiple cases, or both. I was then assigned homicides and worked with law enforcement from the first call through the entire case, including issuing the case, preliminary hearing, and trial if necessary.
I then moved into private practice back to defense work after a series of accidents made it impossible to keep pace with my case load in Stanislaus. I now practice in San Joaquin and Stanislaus. My work on both sides of a case means I not only have an eye towards defense, but can anticipate how the prosecution is looking at the case.
