My case involved working in an area where the court has very wide discretion (spousal support). The attorney and his associate were friendly and assuring but I learned the hard way that they were not as experienced as I expected and as they claimed to be. In the earlier court hearings, the attorney did not put in adequate effort to present my case in order to effectively deal with the opposing... party. My case could have settled sooner instead of it being drawn out for over 2 years. I know that if there was a more experienced associate working on my case, there would have been better overview and anticipation of particular problems. Many things were unnecessarily done and too much time was spent over the briefs and other paper work, rewriting several times and reviewing them to make them "perfect" thus experience was gained by the associate at my expense. Also the exorbitant legal fees I paid did not get me the quality of advocacy as expected. The office support charges were very high too which I believe is due to a complex and sophisticated office system and a large staff.
