She did a simply outstanding job, over a long, protracted, seriously messy divorce. She asked right away, "What do you want?" I said, "Joint legal and physical custody, with a 50/50 time share of the kids." She said, "You will have to pay for this, and it will take time." I said, "That's OK." "All ri...ght, then, let's get to it. And then she proceeded to do exactly that. The kids, many years later, said, "Dad, I'm so glad you did that!" Ms Boriss is HIGHLY intelligent, an excellent attorney, endowed with a keen sense for people's psychology. She was always completely straight with me about what I could, and could not, expect to happen. And without pretending to know what would happen, she was exactly what a good lawyer should be: a counselor--she provided counsel, and her advice was later always proved wise. Madeleine is one of the best attorneys in Santa Cruz County. I have a very contentious child custody situation. I had been through a couple of different attorneys and was suggested to go to her by a friend who felt she would be a better attorney for my situation. It has made a world difference. She i...s very thorough and efficient. She doesn't waste her clients time. She has a very commanding presence in court. I was amazed at how she was very attentive to the details of my case and felt that she intuitively recognized unfair situations in my case and appropriately addressed them with the courts. She charges a little bit more than the other attorneys I had used, however, I think I would have paid less in the long run had she been the original attorney for my case. She is well worth her price. If you have a contentious divorce or custody situation and need some one who will fairly represent you and is very ethical, I highly recommend her. She was excellent in my case. I have heard since from multiple sources that she is revered as one of the best family law attorneys in Santa Cruz.
