I was subpoenaed by one of those collection agencies that buys debt for pennies on the dollar and then bombards you with threatening phone calls and mail trying to scare money out of you. A subpoena could not be ignored though. I found Tyler's name in the Yellow Pages. (Yes, I still use the Yel...low Pages) I called him and explained my situation. Within a day or two I was in his office going over the subpoena and discussing what my options were. After deciding to go to trial we discussed his rate. In my opinion his rate was very,Very reasonable for what was at stake in my situation. He gave me the option of an hourly or flat fee. We signed an agreement and went ahead. He filed the the Court papers, went to Court and was able to get an extension on the trial due to some discovery mistakes that were made by the collection agency. I know that many Santa Clara County Judges are not very consumer friendly in situations like this. It was a feat in itself, in my opinion, to get this extension. I truly believe this was due to Tyler's skill and commitment to consumer protection. During the extension waiting period the collection agency contacted Tyler and said they were willing to accept a lower payment than what they had originally sued for. He informed me of this and I refused. Within less than two weeks Tyler informed me that the collection agency had dropped the suit with prejudice. The "with prejudice" part, in my understanding, means they can still pursue the issue until the statute* runs out, which in my case is just a few months. It is, however, unlikely this will happen. My personal feeling is this will NOT happen because they know I will contact Tyler again and he is sincerely committed to protecting consumers. They don't like that kind of thing. On April 1, 2013 I came in contact with Mr. Tyler S. Hinz through the recommendation of Mr. William E. Kennedy. I was looking for someone to represent me in Consumer Law. After calling around and meeting with 3 attorneys, he stood out as the appropriate person to represent me. He went out of his way to make things clear for me by thoroughly discussing what he would need from me, and possible outcomes we could expect depending on how the other side would respond. He explained how we would respond initially, the next steps, and possible different scenarios we could face so together we could decide the best course of action. We met on multiple occasions and I had lots of questions, yet he was always calm, pleasant, and never rushed me. He put me at ease with his knowledge and professionalism. His confidence spilled over to me, consequently, I felt confident we could resolve this, and we did. My case was dismissed with prejudice without having to go to court. We prevailed, and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome! I truly felt Mr. Hinz was looking out for my best interest, and he demonstrated this to me every step of the way. I can’t thank him enough for his professionalism, enthusiasm he showed in representing me, and his friendly down to earth personality. I feel I got tailored service throughout the whole process, and never felt like I was just another number for Mr. Hinz. I highly recommend Mr. Hinz to anyone seeking help in Consumer Law.
