Good attorney when your spouse is not completely paranoid and unreasonable.

Rebecca was my attorney for 2 years, starting in late 2007. I liked the fact that she was reliable, professional, and ethical in her dealings. I didn’t like the fact that she was not very aggressive. My spouse was extraordinarily obstinate and uncooperative. Even Rebecca was amazed. Yet, I con...stantly had to push her to take action and force the issue. My spouse objected to every single Discovery request, and missed Discovery deadline after deadline. (This was in spite of the fact that he served me with the exact same Discovery request, and I produced EVERY requested document/piece of information on-time). It took me over 6 months to get Rebecca to file a Motion to Compel. In the meantime, she was the one requesting AND thanking Opposing Counsel for extra time to do so. I won the Motion to Compel outright and was awarded a tiny fraction of my attorney costs back. I also didn’t care for her practice of rarely using e-mail to communicate. She would only use e-mail to transmit documents, never to write anything substantive. Her policies may have changed by now, but if this is important to you, ask about it first. I also didn’t like her practice for charging me to e-mail me a letter, then snail-mailing it to me and charging me attorney fees for that, too. I also would have preferred if she was a little more responsive to my case, but perhaps my expectations of a 1 day turnaround were too high. On the positive side, Rebecca was the trustee of a frozen bank account that was frozen for 4 years and STILL remains partially frozen. She reliably sent all parties a copy of the monthly statement and any other letters related to the account for 4 years. If you have a typical situation with a spouse who is not paranoid and capable of some degree of trust and cooperation, then I recommend Rebecca. Otherwise, if your situation is anything like mine was, I suggest you look for someone else.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
