Thomas LemMon is a disgrace to the legal profession. My parents own an acupuncture clinic, and are hardworking, immigrant business owners. They treated a personal injury client of Mr. LemMon’s arising from a car accident. Mr. LemMon, however, withheld medical fees for those treatments from my parents...’ office, was totally unresponsive to our efforts to collect our fees, and refused to disburse any funds received from a settlement or insurer until we sued him in small claims court. His client, our patient, also complained that Mr. LemMon was unresponsive and would not follow his instructions to provide payment to us in a timely manner. In the 30 years of our medical practice, my parents have worked with and coordinated with hundreds of attorneys who represent patients, who are honest, trustworthy, and communicative advocates for their patients. Unfortunately, Mr. LemMon is the worst attorney that we have encountered. We confirmed with our patient that Mr. LemMon advised his client to ignore our medical bills and our communications. When we were in court, Mr. LemMon tried to physically intimidate us by getting aggressive and in our faces when we were trying to negotiate a settlement with the patient to obtain payment. When we were trying to calmly, rationally discuss settlement with the patient, Mr. LemMon laughed at us, told us that the matter was “none of our business,” and pushed the patient along the hall to avoid speaking to us. He threatened to file sanctions against us for simply trying to recover what is owed to our small business. We believe that Mr. LemMon may have obtained payments for our medical treatments from either a settlement or insurer, but is pocketing the funds for his own benefit. We spent our own money and incurred filing and service costs to file a small claims action that was prompted by Mr. LemMon’s non-responsiveness for over 2 years. We would caution potential clients to be careful about working with Mr. LemMon’s given the conduct and unprofessional, physically aggressive behavior that we have seen from him in this ordeal.
