great experience

I worked with attorney Valentino on our prenup. I was coming from a rather horrible experience with another attorney, and I immediately felt understood and supported. Ms. Valentino was extremely professional as she worked with us to draft and finalize our agreement. I would highly recommend her serv...ices!

Thoughtful review of Mexican condo purchase contracts

Caroline provided timely and thoughtful feedback on purchasing and renovation contracts for a Mexican condo we may buy. While not an expert on Mexican law, she was able to draw on her prior experiences with property development as well as other clients who had purchased Mexican property. Caroline's e...xperience in insurance law was also relevant when discussing Force Majeure clauses in the contract. Most importantly, she was upfront about the limits of her knowledge and flagged where we should get additional counsel (e.g. a Mexican notary).

Exceptional Fighter Who Cares About Clients. And Wins.

I have had the pleasure of working with Caroline Valentino on two separate cases. I realize that saying or starting with "I have had the pleasure" may be strange when referring to lawyers or difficult-delicate legal situations, but Caroline is truly exceptional. She represented me in an art law case ...which resulted in an arbitrator awarding me nearly $400,000. Caroline was just as effective in my family law case (re: divorce), showing ample amounts of skill and compassion toward my case and life situation, and helping craft a win-win agreement that exemplifies "fair" and "amicable." She's thorough, knows the law, gives great advice, is as responsive as she is 'there' for you, truly cares, and wins. I cannot recommend Caroline highly enough.

Great energy for first time client and so knowledgeable!

I looked for a lawyer through my insurance plan and after a few failed attempts or people who said they didn't do what they advertised I found Caroline. I was looking for someone to walk me through a prenuptial agreement and counsel on what specific terms meant. She went above and beyond right away a...nd I felt incredibly comfortable asking her questions, letting her know my concerns, as well as appreciated her viewpoint on marriage and having a prenuptial agreement in general. She responded to me within hours nearly every time I reached out and was incredibly prompt with the back and forth of the other lawyer (who was not) and helped us immensely in finalizing our agreement. This was my first time hiring a lawyer at all, so much appreciation for her. Thank you!!

Gave Inadequate Advice

I found Caroline Valentino through MetLife Legal Plan. Had a phone consultation with her about how to terminate the month-to-month lease with my tenant. She told me that if the contract is month-to-month, I just needed to give proper notice to my tenant, and the tenant should move out in accordance w...ith the lease contract. She told me there was no concern that she could think of, and suggested that I be as open with my tenant as possible. She never once mentioned to me that the City of Oakland had passed a Uniform Relocation Ordinance which required the landlord to pay a relocation fee to the tenant, and the fee starts at $7,300 plus potentially another $2,500 if the tenant is disabled or elderly. I was basically blindsided by this requirement but having already given the notice to my tenant, I'm now in a bind.

"Caroline is a fantastic listener and a zealous advocate. I have both worked on a matter with her, and seen her in action with her clients, because I share a suite with her. She is knowledgeable about the law and about people. Very professional."
