In your comment to the first answer, you wrote that the corporation was "forfeited". This seems odd, because forfeiture applies to foreign entities...

I believe that what is happening is that the bank wants to protect itself against claims arising from improper payment of the funds, thus it needs...

You need to ask the bank, or its successor. You have asked a business, rather than legal, question.
