considerate kind and fair

Mr. Nelson was my attorney for my son's case and it was a difficult one to prove. Most of what there was to deal with was he said/she said. He was very up front with me on what to expect in court and in the future and what to aim for with mediation (before we went to court). My ex is an extremely ...good liar and very good at switching from one story to the next seamlessly but Mr. Nelson was not phased and in a day long trial was able to recall and call him out on testimony my ex made at one point early in the day that was the opposite as to what he had said later in the day. Even with his mellow and kind disposition he still was able to talk with enough force and persistence to set off my ex's temper so the judge had a chance to see a fraction of the real him. He was always prepared for discussions with me or court, always on time, I never had a single complaint. I was unable to pay my own bill and it was being paid for me and when a hugely embarrassment happened that the payer stopped paying Mr. Nelson was exceptionally kind and respectful in dealing with me about the matter. My only regret was that I could not continue to pay him and keep him as my lawyer.

Do not hire this lawyer

This is a lawyer that represents his own ego and my ex. He was very disrespectful and demeaning to me. Going through an awful divorce, he made it a nightmare. After a 20 year marriage he told me I had no claim to my house and had to give it up. I was talked down to and made to feel stupid because I w...as a stay a home mom and was getting back into the work force. He even made a crack at how much money I made and laughed at me. I never felt heard and was even told to shut up. But the last straw was when my ex was trying to control how I saw my children. I fired him and found another attorney. When we received the paperwork from him, my new attorney didn't have all the info and a lot of holes were in his work. I was told of course I could get a settlement on the house but at that point it had been dragged out for so long we decided to settle for considerably less then I deserved. Needless to say I feel I made a very bad choice in staying with this lawyer as long as I did.

The comments in this review are simply not true. Those reading this may check with numerous other professionals in the field regarding the excellent representation and results this firm has provided to clients for many years. Going through a marital dissolution is very difficult. Some individuals are, understandably, angry with respect to the harsh realities of the legal system and very demanding emotional and financial situation that confronts them. Often they become angry at the attorney who is conveying those harsh realities to them. The reality is that individuals should look for an attorney with whom they can communicate well. One who will tell them the reality of the situation they are faced with and not simply tell them what they want to hear. I wish this person well and hope she finds, or has found, someone who can help her in all respects.

You can trust this review!

I would recommend this attorney, who was a switch for me after getting rid of one of Napa's worst. He was professional and helped me finish my lengthy custody case. Mr. Nelson can be trusted.

"I work with Mr. Nelson on a regular basis. He is a caring person with a good grasp of the law. I have referred cases to him when I am unable to take on more cases or am out of town. I respect the work Mr. Nelson does and believe he is fair with his clients."
