Excellent

I updated my trust with Mr. Carter a few years back, also used his service to update my Mom's trust as well. My Mom recently passed and Mr. Carter helped my sister and myself maneuver through the process. I would highly recommend Mr. Carter and I have to friends and family.

Very Slow

This lawyer is in charge of a trust for my family, for which I am the major beneficiary. He has repeatedly failed to complete the needed documents to move this to a closure. In the beginning he said he would have the paperwork in the mail "very soon". Five months later we received it. He then was sup...posed to send another document that would make null and void the need for a four month waiting period. Many times he stated this was on its way. Four months later and the documents were never sent. At this time he said we would proceed to distribution. Nine months later and we are still waiting on him to finish up the paperwork so we can proceed to distribute the properties. This case involved no creditors, probate, court actions etc. The trust was very straightforward. The only thing he needed to do to proceed to distribution was put together the simple "IN" and "OUT" expenses for the trust, which were minimal. In his billing statement I finally received two weeks ago I was surprised to see only 10 hours, over the course of 18 months, was spent preparing documents etc. There was no reason for the delay other than Mr. Carter "not being able to get to" our case. During this time Mr. Carter allowed two properties to stop being rented and sit empty for twelve months. We agreed to the homes being emptied initially because Mr. Carter was nearly ready to distribute the estate. Twelve months later and we have lost at least 25,000 as mortgage payments have gone out while the properties have sent empty. Mr. Carter only completed a chunk of paperwork after many, many calls and then would slack off again for 6-8 weeks before he would devote another couple of hours to our case again. I can't believe how unprofessional this whole thing has been. He did take some money off of our bill for his delay in completing this but not nearly enough for what it is has cost us in lost money, frustration and time wasted. I will be reporting him to the state board as soon as this estate is settled. We paid him two weeks ago, now lets hope this nightmare is nearly over.
