Justin belittled me consistently and billed every second without answering the questions I had. He would interrupt when I was trying to clarify the legal process. His out of country location makes him hard to use for in person family court with an aggressive style and lack of patience or compassion. ...
In this line of work, I have learned to ask people for the facts that support the conclusions they allege. When I do, I often find that what they have alleged is unsupported by facts and their claims lack substance. For instance, an ultimate conclusion like 'he was mean to me' often means 'he told me the truth I didn’t want to hear, and that truth made me feel bad.' 'He would interrupt me when I was trying to clarify the legal process' really means 'he made me focus on a logical conversation about things I didn’t want to discuss and refused to indulge in irrelevant, emotional topics.' 'He belittled me' means 'he challenged me to stay focused on relevant facts when I wanted to discuss unrelated issues.' A note on compassion: Having compassion doesn’t mean letting someone waste time without charging for it, or allowing irrelevant, emotional conversations to replace focused, logical ones. Lawyers aren’t therapists, and many family law clients mistake their lawyer for one.

He is direct and has great knowledge of the law and will hear you out but he will not be holding your hand or be a counselor to your case, your a client not a patient to him and you have to put your foot down on what it is you want.

This guy will jump ship and sell you out. He does not put the effort into your case. He is shiesty and only about your money. You will mostly deal with his paralegal mellisa who is nice and well intentioned or Jose who should not be working for any attorney. I was kept uninformed, and my responses we...
You'll notice this lying coward didn't leave their name, so I couldn’t reply and state what really happened. The only reason I can think of that I have ever "jumped ship" on a client is that they didn't want to pay me for my services. I don't even dump my clients if I don't like them if they pay, and I continue to do a damn good job for them. It seems like this person wanted constant unnecessary "briefings" and hand holding but couldn't afford to pay for any of it. I am not cheap and being cheap is not my selling point. My services will cost you an arm and a leg. If you don't like that, don't whine about it. Just hire someone else. Go ahead and trust a cheap attorney with what's important in your life and see what happens. In case you haven't learned yet in life, "cheap" is almost never "good". I proudly and unapologetically charge top dollar. It's a small legal community when it comes to family law in the counties that I practice. I know the market and my competition very well. I have cases where the other side is represented by one of a small group of attorneys repeatedly. And I know where I stand in that crowd. I see firsthand again and again the quality of the services my competition provides. Few of them provide the same quality representation that I provide, and most are either inexperienced, incapable, or should have retired a long time ago and don't put forth any effort. I'm experienced, capable, and I still have energy for the fight. Especially when it comes to attorneys, you generally get what you pay for. If you want a cheap attorney, look elsewhere. I make no apologies that I run a business and not a charity. I unapologetically expect to be paid in full for my services. I have a whole section on that subject in the frequently asked questions on my website. Wanting to be paid for my services doesn't mean I don't care about my clients. It means I'm not going to turn away the never-ending stream of people who want to pay top dollar for my services because I'm too busy working on someone's case that doesn't want to pay me. Often, I find that clients that seem to resent paying for my services and claim they can't afford to pay me have plenty of money to maintain cable television at their home, eat out at fancy restaurants, drive nice cars, go on nice vacations, and they just would rather pay for those things than pay me for my legal services. And that's completely fine, but I will not spend time away from my family and turn away paying clients to work for anyone who can afford luxuries in life and just doesn't want to pay me because they feel entitled to "justice." Even though this anonymous cry baby complains I dropped him/her because he/she didn't want to pay, he/she acknowledged that I'm capable if you have money for my services. That reveals the real problem is he/she can't afford to pay for legal services and thinks the world owes him/her something for free. I'm sorry, but I don't owe anybody anything. And as you'll find out if you don't spend your money and hire a good attorney, you're not entitled to a free and fair outcome and you likely won't get one. I invite you to read other lawyers' replies to the negative comments people leave about them, if they even dare to respond. I guarantee you won't see any responses like mine. I'm different and not like the rest. And I know it. That said, do you want an attorney that is such a spineless wimp they can't stick up for themselves let alone you? I certainly wouldn't. Call me.

I had a preliminary conversation with Justin on the phone and everything sounded great. His assistant Jose sent me and my wife the retainer agreement and I had some follow up question regarding the fees. I called Jose back and asked if he could schedule a quick 10 minute call with Justin to negotia...
Thank you for the review. I do not see this as a negative review despite the one star rating. This review is a great opportunity to set expectations for potential clients. In an attorney-client relationship, having matching expectations is important or one side will be unhappy. My business practices are non negotiable. If you expect me to modify my business practices to match what you determine they should be, let me be upfront with you that this might not be the right law office for you. Essentially, that is what the person who wrote the review above was very politely informed. My business practices are designed for maximum efficiency based on experience and my personal preference. All phone calls are screened by staff, and I have given my staff specific criteria that must be met prior to scheduling a phone call with me. Phone calls that are unnecessary or undesired are not scheduled per my instructions. Please note, I DO charge a consultation fee in family law cases. After an initial staff screening, I provide free consultations for selected criminal defense and personal injury inquiries. See the FAQ section of my website (www.tabayoyonlaw.com) for more details.
