Allison Dundas is a Certified Family Law Specialist who practices family law exclusively, focusing on all aspects of the dissolution process, including diverse financial issues, business valuation, property division, child and spousal support, post and prenuptial agreements, domestic violence and difficult custody disputes.

Ms. Dundas has exclusively practiced family law throughout her career, and now “of counsel” to the firm. Before joining Morgan Tidalgo Sukhodrev & Azzolino LLP, she spent time as a research attorney for the family law courts in San Jose, as well as practicing as an associate at other well-respected family law firms in the Bay Area. She is a skilled advocate, assisting clients both as a consultant in mediation and settlement, as well as providing clients with vigorous representation in contested litigation cases at law and motion hearings and trials.

Ms. Dundas assists clients with all aspects of family law matters. Two of her most proud accomplishments include getting flowers and a hug from a young autistic boy for helping him “stay with his family,” as well as, a $260,000 sanctions award against a spouse who refused to work and pay support. Ms. Dundas’ vast experience helps her come up with creative solutions in times where compromise is appropriate and strategic trial strategy when necessary.

Whether the case revolves around difficult custody or financial issues, Ms. Dundas builds a team of professionals to provide clients with the best representation and counsel necessary to make informed decisions in both settlement and litigation settings. This includes working closely with mental health professionals and forensic accountants as necessary.

Ms. Dundas graduated from the Syracuse University College of Law. While in law school, Ms. Dundas received a Master’s Degree in International Law and Politics from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs affiliated with Syracuse University. She is a member of the bar in New York, Connecticut and California.

Ms. Dundas has a blended family with six children. When not tending to the needs of those children, she enjoys hiking and traveling with her wife.

Superior lawyer and exceptional person
My case with Allison demonstrated how outstanding she is with all the following distinctions: experience, knowledge of the law & process, strategy, preparation, prudence, and compassion. She is an astute, clear-sighted & assertive counselor who consistently demonstrates a detailed & thorough understanding of the daunting complex of challenges faced in separation, child custody & divorce ranging from innumerable minutiae to overarching strategy. In particular, Allison was very efficient, directed, and targeted at the extended goals of asserting my self-interests especially with regard to mediation & child custody – she has great foresight born from well-integrated experience. Over 19 months of the case, I truly appreciated how concise & exact she was in communicating with the other party and executing on the process – from a financial standpoint I benefitted from much greater value of effort than I reasonably calculated for the anticipated cost. Another observation I made that further cemented my confidence was the demonstrably established credibility she holds with judges & the court system. On a personal side, I may have benefitted as much, if not more, from her heartfelt awareness, understanding & compassion for my anguished state through most of the process. She was very adept at helping to modulate my emotions throughout – something I was not cognizant of for a long time, and this effort further contributed to executing a thoughtful, constructive plan. My separation, child custody & divorce ended up decidedly where Allison advised we would arrive at the outset, a conclusion that I had great difficulty believing was achievable. The path from confusion, uncertainty & enormous emotional distress to understanding, acceptance, satisfaction & personal ease was the most challenging course of my life and one that I could not have followed without Allison’s guidance, action & encouragement. I have rarely felt so fortunate as to have Allison manage and execute my case while concurrently offering the most meaningful personal support.

Compassionate and realistic
Allison Dundas helped me with perspective when I was in the process of a divorce with young children. She approached my case with care, concern, and excellent guidance. I couldn't have made the choices I made to change my life without legal help. Allison's expertise was pivotal for me to make the change I needed to make.

Child Custody
Got the job done and fees seemed reasonable. Process took longer than I had hoped but guess that should have been expected. The delay was likely due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, court was backed up.

Highly recommend
Allison handled my long, drawn out divorce with patience and competence all while doing her best to keep billable hours at a minimum. She kept me informed, explained everything thoroughly and advocated for me and my best interests. My only regret is not opting for lifetime spousal support as opposed to receiving only slightly more upfront, non-modifiable and for a limited time period, although given the circumstances then and lack of compromise from the other side, it seemed to be the easier and less expensive option in terms of continuing negotiations and legal fees so Allison's advice to accept the offer in front of me made sense at the time. Overall, very good representation.

Professional misconduct

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 2019.

Immediate Suspension issued in NY, 2019
updated on 01/03/2023

Immediate suspension means an attorney lost his or her license to practice during a disciplinary investigation. The suspension typically expires when the investigation is resolved.

Allison's comment: “I recently learned of this suspension which is for non-payment of dues from 1998 when I practiced in NY. I have not practiced in NY state since that time. I have taken the necessary steps to cure the suspension by paying the back owed dues and am awaiting approval from the NY Courts.”
