Simply Put...The Right Man For The Job!

In the years before retaining Charles Carbone to be my incarcerated daughter's attorney in 2007, my daughter had already appeared before a Parole Board a few times, and had been denied each time. During those appearances, my daughter had struggled with being forthcoming while answering the Board's q...uestions, usually because the Board wanted explicit answers regarding the nature of her crime, and my daughter was still having trouble verbalizing details. As soon as Charles became involved with my daughter's case, she became more self-confident. His support allowed her to believe that she deserved to be set free, and his relentless preparation helped guide her focus toward the most pertinent issues of her case. Together, they developed such a trust in each other that she was then able to reach, and then face, her intermost fears which, in turn, allowed her to present a more stable psychological profile before the Board. In late 2008, I was devastated financially by the economic/bank meltdown, and was rendered unable to continue my financial support for my daughter's legal fees. Instead of dropping the case, like 95% of all lawyers out there would have done, Charles forged ahead with my daughter's case pro-bono until such time as I could get back on my feet financially, and citing as his only excuse that: "I believe she deserves to be set free!" Since Charles Carbone has been involved with my daughter's parole attempts, she has obtained a "Suitable For Parole" verdict from three consecutive, different Parole Boards, all of which have then been denied by the Governor's office. My daughter is still incarcerated today because of those denials but, in no way, should that imply a deficiency in Charles' representation. He's done everything necessary to get those decisions to the Governor's desk. The positive recommendation from the Governor's own Board SHOULD be enough, especially after reaching that level three times. After that, the only explanation available is that there must be some sort of politics involved which, I believe, is something Charles has no control over. Our appeal of the latest denial is under way and our only hope, at this point, seems to be to catch whomever is going to make this next decision having "a good day"! In summary, Charles Carbone has had such a positive impact on my daughter's outlook in life, and in her state of mind in general, that I could never imagine anyone else more capable than he is at handling my daughter's representation. We've got the right man for the job, and now, as a lifelong friend. Thank you for your time.

The attorney who "KNOWS" how to get the job done and "DOES." Don't fret.

My family hired Charles Carbone in 2012 to represent me at my initial board hearing. In dealing with Mr. Carbone I was not always happy. He seemed very busy and hard to get ahold of at times. He was short in conversation and always quick to the point. However, inside the board room Carbone was ge...nius. He played a strategy best fitting to my strengths while overshadowing my weaknesses. At my first board hearing Carbone asked me to take a 3-year denial, which I did. July 31, 2014 I went back to the board with Carbone and got a date. In hearing both of Carbone's closing arguments from my first hearing to my second hearing, I was able to recognize that he had a great plan. Carbone is definitely strategic in his dealings and methodical in his planning. Although I admit that he was frustrating to work with at times, I still give him a thumbs up. He is excellent at getting positive results. He did not hold my hand through the process but did navigate me to a date at my second hearing notwithstanding my prison record. He also cleared additional brushfires set ablaze by the DA's office. Frankly, he not only shredded the DA's argument for denial, but also discredited the DA's official account of the facts of my case that they presented before the board. I did not know that Carbone knew so much about my case. The common talk amongst inmates is that the attorney is only there to protect your rights. I found that not to be true in my case. Carbone not only protected my rights but also enacted them so that they had a voice of their own. He also tied up loose ends by taking key words and phrases that I said throughout the course of my hearings and put them into his closing to smooth out any questions or doubts about their meaning. He did a great job in interpreting to the board what I was trying to say because I did not say it well. Bottom line, Charles Carbone is an excellent attorney. He fights hard for his clients, and is definitely one of the best in the business. He is not one to hold your hand through the process, but is very knowledgeable of the law, trustworthy, and an excellent attorney. I highly recommend him.

A bright spot in the criminal justice system

I hired Charles Carbone for multiple parole consideration hearings as well as filing writs for my life-term husband.   Charles was always realistic with us, there are no guarantees.   Whenever I had a concern,  I could always call him.  Despite his work schedule which takes him all over the state to ...appear at hearings and see clients at appointments, he always got back to me with a cogent well thought-out answer.   At times, Charles even handled matters not related to my husband's case, without charge and without complaint.   His fees are reasonable -- we had previously paid much more for other Board specialists.  Charles won freedom for my husband and there is no price I can attach to that.

simply the best

Mr Carbone is skilled, experienced, and simply one of the best prisoner' rights attorneys ever! He is a person of the highest character, always responds to queries, and has intimate knowledge of how the Board process works and how to get good results. I say this not lightly, but as a result of workin...g with him on a case for many years. Once the tide turned in the governor's office, he was able to make the process work as it should and secure a parole. He is a genuine human being, a person of the highest character, realistic yet hopeful, and a delight to work with.

Case of Lamonte E. Wilson

I have not personally met Mr. Carbone but he represented my nephew in his criminal case. My nephew got a 25 to life sentence and has been incarcarated for over 25 yrs. This was his 3rd or 4th attempt in front of the review board to determine his release which he had been denied all of the other tim...es. Mr. Carbone met with my nephew many times prior to his scheduled hearing and educated him on what he needed to do. Mr. Carbone is very upfront and he does not sugar coat anything, he wants you to be truthful about everything. Mr. Carbone has been doing this for many years and he knows the laws of the justice system.
