OUTCOME: Employee was reinstated to his job and received back pay.
African American refinery worker laid off while non-African-Americans, including ones that he had trained, were not laid off.
OUTCOME: A successful settlement was reached for lost wages and emotional distress for both women.
Two female bank employees were discriminated against and harassed while they were pregnant. One was made to stand in the lobby of the bank to greet customers while she was far along in her pregnancy. ... A male was brought in for them both to train to be a manager. He had no previous banking experience. Both women had better qualifications than he did. One was not allowed to take her breaks or take lunch early enough for her nutritional needs due to her pregnancy. Her supervisor told her to bring cookies and duck under her desk and eat quickly. One was denied sick leave because she was at risk for an early delivery. Shortly thereafter her water broke and she had to be taken directly from work to the hospital where she gave birth prematurely. After her baby was born, one called in to say she was out that day because her baby was sick. Her supervisor made her come to the office and show him the baby to prove she was sick. Ultimately they were both terminated in retaliation for reporting irregularities by their supervisor.
