Entertainment and litigation attorney representing the greater Bay Area.
Most people call what I do "litigation". I prefer to call it "dispute resolution". It may, but does not necessarily, involve the federal or state courts, but always involves acting as a fierce and tireless advocate to achieve the best possible outcome for the client. Subject matters I’ve dealt with run the gamut of tort and contract law and have included soft IP infringement, real estate, business and contracts, fiduciary breaches, fraud and negligence, and even some personal injury. As an outgrowth of litigation, I also handle appellate matters.
Several of the firm's clients are in the live musical and theatrical entertainment industries. So in addition to the above, I also do general "soft" intellectual property consultation; licensing, distribution and other entertainment-related agreements; and deal with myriad other issues. That work is informed by my substantial prior business experience in the internet, alcoholic beverage distribution and entertainment industries.
I also happen to be fluent in Hebrew.
Specialties include litigation, entertainment, intellectual property, music, licensing, distribution

"As a family law attorney who often represents clients with interstate jurisdiction and domicile matters, it is important to have a strong national network of colleagues. I can rely on Ory as a sound source of reliable information for my (Michigan) clients who have corresponding California-based needs or inquiries."
"I had the pleasure of working with Ory for almost 10 years. He is a thoughtful, intelligent, and dedicated litigator. Ory sincerely enjoys what he does, and the high-quality work he performs on behalf of his clients demonstrates that passion."

Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community
"I have had the pleasure of knowing Ory since we studied law together at UC Hastings. Ory is both tenacious and highly analytical, a zealous advocate for his clients. His knowledge of music and the arts, and the ever-changing legal landscape, is impressive. I whole-heartedly endorse this lawyer."
Trademark infringement Attorney | Jul 08
Relationship: Worked together on matter
"Ory Sandel is a terrific lawyer. I worked with him on a David-vs-Goliath trademark infringement case. I was representing the "David." Ory has a successful track record in intellectual property litigation, so I turned to him for advice. He proved to be astute, responsive, and deeply insightful about both tactics and strategy. His analytic ability is of the first order. And, at least as important as his top-shelf legal ability, I know him to be a kind, honest, direct, and honorable person.
I am happy to give Ory my highest endorsement, personally and professionally."
