Excellent Service

If you are looking for a lawyer who is not only knowledgeable in her field of law but who is also empathetic, understanding and accommodating, look no further than Geri N. Kahn. I started working with Geri from 2013 to 2018 when my case was finalized. Geri was with me on every step of my case, sh...aring information and answering all my questions. When my file was moved to a new State due to my relocation, Geri agreed to fly in and be with me during my interview process which was a nerve wrecking experience for me. She helped calm me down, was supportive and understanding to the mix of emotions I was going through. Even after the outcome of my case, and technically the end of my contract with Geri, she continued to support me and answer all my questions for moving forward. With Geri, I had a true advocate and I would recommend her to anyone looking to have a supporting partner for a lawyer.

Disability

I have been struggling for several years with several health problems. It took years and switching doctors and seeing specialts to start getting actual diagnosis for my illnesses from doctors. I had applied for ssdi and was denied on my own so i contacted geri kahn and she met with me and took on m...y case. I filed an appeal online with the help of her assistant Toni and was denied again, i recieved a letter from ssdi about having a video hearing but by the time i received the letter geri and toni had already made the decision without discussing with me first to refuse the video conference hearing. After 3 years i was finally scheduled for a hearing with an ALJ, i met with mostly Toni to go over what medical records were still needed and they also asked me to get functional capacity forms filled out from my primary care doctor and the specialist doctors i have been seeing. I was unable to get all my doctors to fill out the forms and return them to her office. I met again with geri the day of my hearing for abvery short period of time where i then for the first time found out the reason for my denial was due to my diagnosis didnt come until after my Date last insured. Geri instead of going over things with me during the time she asked me to be there early to go over the case aith her went into the hallway and and visited with another attorney she knew and talked about her upcoming vacation and had how she had asked the judge for an extension on a case because of her vacation but the judge denied the request. When she returned to the room she had me waiting for her in i asked her a few questions and realized quickly she was not listening to me because instead of answering my questions she stared at her laptop and just responded with uh-huh, uh-uh, ya and nodding her head not even realizing i had asked her questions. We were then seated in the room with the ALJ for the actual hearing and geri only asked me 1 or 2 questions and none of the questions had to do with why i did not have an actual diagnosis before my date last insured even though i had been seeing drs. Prior to the date The whole time for all the symptoms i had been having. She did not ask me about my craniotomy i actually did have prior to the date last insured and why the surgeons records of my visits said i was recovering well. It said i was recovering well because at that time it was normal for me to have the symptoms i had after brain surgery and it was normal to continue to have them for atleast 4-6 months after surgery. She did not explain the reason i did not go back to the surgeon after the fact was because he was a surgeon and did not give continual ongoing care and i had to get a referal from my primary care dr. to see a neurologist that provides ongoing care instead of a neurosurgeon. She did not explain that my hematology oncologist had told me i should see a rheumatologist for some of my symptoms but my primary care doctor refused to give me a referal in the online health record and messaging system the doctor uses. The ALJ had determined i would miss work approx. 1 day a month which is not a reasonable determination with my health problems and nothing was said to change the judges thoughts on how much work i would miss. Geri only asked me about depression which was the one thing i did not have a lot of medical evidence to back up. After the hearing was over i received an unfavorable decision due to the medical records not supporting a disabling diagnosis before the DLI. We are talking a difference of 4 months from when i started actually getting the diagnoses from the date i was last insured and i had been seeing doctors for my problems for a couple years previous to getting any diagnosis. Geri said she wanted to speak with me about my case after we received the unfavorable decision so i waited for her to call and talk to me, after apprx a week she called and dropped my case. Leaving me with little time to find help to go to appeals cnsl

I want to start by saying I really do understand this client’s anger. It is extremely distressing to all of us who work in disability that there are some cases that are denied even when an individual is genuinely disabled and no longer capable of working. I can only imagine how painful and frustrating this decision was for the client. I cannot discuss or respond directly to this client’s specific comments in the review without divulging personal information. I can say that we gave our all to this claim as we do to all our clients and, contrary to what many people may think, it is difficult to win a disability claim. One has to prove an inability to perform not only past work but any other work that exists in our national economy. For this reason, the percentage of cases approved nationally at the ALJ level is only 46%. I regret that the ALJ did not find this individual disabled.

Excellent lawyer!

Geri Kahn has been extremely helpful in our immigration journey. My spouse and I had contacted different immigration lawyers in the US to help us with my immigration from Canada to the US. The sensitivity with which Geri handled our case and addressed our concerns is beyond words. She was always avai...lable to answer our questions. Very very thankful and grateful for all the help and support Geri has given us. We highly recommend Geri and her team if you are looking for someone who is a thorough professional with lots of experience and still very human and kind.

Timely, helpful and prompt advice

I reached out to Geri to get advice on immigration related issue. She was prompt and clear in explaining the process she would follow. Later she understood the issue in detail and provided timely advice on Skype as well as email. I liked how she did not limit her advice to legalese, but rather explai...ned available options in plain English as well as provided her informed opinion. Her advice was never very overbearing, while leaving the choice up to me. When I followed-up with her on the same issue almost a year later, she was still very responsive and helpful.

Excellence and Integrity

I give Geri Kahn the highest recommendation for any one who is seeking help with the the complicated process of applying for social security disability. From the first day I hired Geri she listened carefully and with concern to whatever problems I presented and guided me thru my social security disab...iliity application.Geri and her assistant Gayle kept me up to date on the progress of my case and returned all of my phone calls promptly.Anyone who hires Geri will see she is a professional and her only concern is to do right by her client.Lastly my application was approved with no appeals and I am so happy I hired Geri Kahn as my lawyer!
