About Midori
Biography
My passion has always been words, concepts, and ideas. This passion led me to obtain a Certificate in Intellectual Property at the University of San Francisco School of Law, in addition to my Juris Doctorate. For my Certificate, I focused specifically on emerging issues in the copyright and trademark protection, including the recent developments in fair use, as pertains to art in particular.
Prior to law school, I worked at the Hawai‘i State Legislature for then-House Finance Committee chairman Representative Marcus R. Oshiro. Working at the legislature gave me a unique understanding of the development of laws and the ways that laws impact particular types of businesses, organizations, and individuals and inspired me to teach others about these laws.
Coming from an English/Professional Writing background, my focus is on making the law and legal issues understandable to clients. I believe in "translating" legalese into normal human speech because everyone deserves the opportunity to fully understand what they are dealing with. Clients can count on me to explain to them my best understanding of the issues at hand in as straightforward terms as possible.
