I am Joseph Zoucha and I am an experienced trial lawyer in California. I am focused on helping my clients by providing assertive representation in the courtroom, as well as straightforward and practical advice. Despite what you’ve heard, the legal system does work to help resolve legal issues.

When you retain me, you get me — not just an inexperienced assistant who is in control of your file. Nothing gets filed in any of my clients’ files, which has not been personally reviewed and placed in the file by me. When I walk into court I am completely familiar with my clients’ cases and do not have to depend on an assistant explaining the situation to me.

My practice of law is a hands-on practice. I use one highly experienced paralegal who has worked with me for more than 20 years and I am proud to say that nearly all the legal work done in a file of mine is personally performed by me. I oversee any outside personnel and expert consultation-making decisions to what will and won’t be used from outside resources. I do occasionally oversee young lawyers who intern in my practice who provide valuable assistance to me and my cases.

Just like other trial lawyers, I have a range of outside experts I use when preparing a case. You would be surprised how many attorneys are prepped by legal assistants hours before the trial, and it is important to know I am not one of them.

Recognized And Respected In California By Other Attorneys. My focus is not becoming a famous attorney whose picture you will see in newspapers, magazines and television. I keep my clients’ cases as private as I can. I have tried several newsworthy jury trials where the press contacted me on a daily basis for information but because I focus on my clients best interest, not mine, I declined to provide newsworthy comment.

My focus is to help stabilize your life. I am a family man who has a stable marriage excess of 30 years. My wife and I have raised 3 wonderful children all of whom graduated from top tier universities. My wife’s career is in education. I believe in stability and one of my goals is to help resolve your legal problem and reestablish stability in your personal life. I have had cases referred to me by famous well know attorneys throughout the state of California and am proud of the confidence they placed in me. I would like to think those attorneys know that I put my client’s interests first rather than focusing on self promotion.

Because my approach combines a one-on-one personalized attention fused with comprehensive family law and personal injury experience, many of my past clients use me as a referral for family members and friends. I understand what a “normal” person experiences in life because I also live a normal life. I have been active in the community and in the rearing of my children. I have coached children’s sports and know what it feels like when problems arise, because I am just like you.

I am very proud to say that I have actually received referrals from the former spouses of my clients who respected my transparent, forthright, efficient, honest and open communication during the entire divorce proceeding, and the fact that I want everyone to be treated with dignity.

I live five minutes from my office, so I spend more time working on my clients cases then I do having to commute to an office far away from home – including on weekends. I routinely meet with clients on weekends when as it is more convenient for them.

My office, located one block from the San Mateo County Courthouse and two minutes from Highway 101, offers free parking and a two-block walk from the Caltrain with connections to BART. I am available Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., though I frequently am able to see clients after hours.
