Mr. Woods has devoted his entire practice to civil litigation. In 1973, he joined the law firm of McCormick Barstow in Fresno, California. Since that time, he has tried cases alleging civil rights violations, sexual harassment, race, age, disability and gender discrimination, political retaliation, whistle blower retaliation, wrongful termination and other employment-related matters in State and Federal courts. Mr. Woods chairs McCormick Barstow’s Employment Law/Labor Practice Group.
Mr. Woods counsels and represents employers in harassment/discrimination claims under California and Federal law, including Title VII and Title IX of the Civil Rights Act, Americans With Disabilities Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and California law, including the Fair Employment & Housing Act, Unruh Civil Rights Act and Labor Code.
Mr. Woods also represents clients in administrative proceedings involving disability claims and personnel matters before Civil Service Commissions, School Boards, Regulatory Boards and Commission on Professional Competence Hearings.
Mr. Woods is licensed to practice law in California and admitted to the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Court for the Northern, Eastern and Central Districts of California.
