Mr Davidson is focused, direct, and immediately impressed me with his knowledge and expertise of ERISA law both on 'how' Long Term Disability insurance policies work and 'how' the insurance companies work. He had the courage to 'stop' me if I went off topic (as I have a habit of doing), and refocus ...the conversation to the facts. This quality that immediately caught my attention as other lawyers I have worked in the past were extremely willing to allow my to talk at length, while they 'both' listened and billed. Although this was a consultation, and we are not ready to proceed legally, I wanted to write this review to acknowledge a lawyer who took time, even after knowing there would be no financial gain for him, to follow up on questions I had asked and to say 'hold his number' because regardless of what path I take, he would be happy to provide a 'sanity check'. Anyone who is disabled or assisting someone who has a disability understands that life has enough 'extra' battles. The idea of leaving the house can be a challenge, so the prospect of anything 'legal' is unimaginable. Mr Davidson spent time to review my situation, and I wanted to spend the same time to post a review of what I saw in him as a lawyer. Even with limited contact when you find someone who knows what they are doing, it shows. Mr Davidson knows what he is doing, and his treatment of even a perspective client, deserves 5 stars.

It was devastating to lose my ability to continue work in my highly successful career. It was disheartening to find out that having disability insurance coverage did not necessarily translate to payment of benefits once I was disabled. Once my disability benefits were unjustly and abruptly cut off,... I knew that I needed to find the best attorneys for me. Thornton Davidson was not only most knowledgeable and personable of all but also took the time to explain the law, study the specifics of my case, and explain how he would represent me, how ERISA law impacted my particular illness, the timeline, the potential and likely outcomes, and the fee structure. I knew I had found the right lawyer when other law firms, including a prominent one in LA, tried to set themselves apart by comparing themselves with Thornton Davidson's firm. They were all respectful of Thornton and what they had learned from the law courses that Thornton teaches on disability law. Thornton together with his partner Bob and his law clerk Jill have won me my cases against 2 insurance companies (for the price of one) and continue to be my counsel at any point that I need advice. My illness was, at first, most debilitating through the mental health impact it had on my work performance -ERISA LAW won my case and got me the full 2 year maximum benefit set for mental illness. Then, as I continued to get sicker and sought out medical care for the associated disabling physical disabilities, ERISA LAW again won my case, and extended my long-term benefits beyond the initial 2 year limit. Thornton, his partner (Bob) and their senior law clerk (Jill) have continued to be most kindly and diligently responsive to my inquiries and providing good advice. I always feel that they are only a phone call away. The fierce and outstanding legal representation that I have received from them is everything I had hoped for. What I did not expect was the high level of personal attention, support and compassion that they give me. They are good people, knowing their work, and doing an outstanding job, every time. I am forever grateful.
