I retained Mr. Bains to support me with my divorce but throughout the duration of the time I retained him to advise me on my divorce he and his paralegal often gave me the run around. For example, he and his paralegal set appointments via phone with me but would, for example: cancel, be too busy to s...peak with me, and kept me on hold for up to an hour, on more than one occasion. I don't believe this attorney was working for me but rather appeared to just be after my retainer fee. My original yelp review I edited today to replace with this one to state that this attorney was released from working on my behalf due to the following:  appearing to not make my divorce case a priority, not appearing to keep me in the loop with my case, not answering basic questions timely i.e., court date questions; appearing to lie to me by telling me my case would be an easy one to manage when he didn't appear to treat my case as a priority; appearing to make excuse after excuse and then appeared too busy, treating me like an inconvenience when we would speak via phone, and when we did speak he appeared to rush me off the phone. I chose to take Mr. Bains to small claims court to get my retainer fee back. Mr. Bains called on 1/3/24 to negotiate settlement and remove my original Unfavorable Yelp review. He was not willing to to return full retainer amount. Attempting to get sympathy from me stating he’s a new business implying the Yelp review wasn’t fair. He didn’t appear to work on my behalf and all he appeared to care about was giving me the run around and make excuses for his lack of Communication; appeared buddy buddy with the opposing attorney as evidenced making excuses for opposing attorneys lack of communication with him. My ex appeared to get all she asked for from her attorney and my attorney sat back appeared to allow it to occur. He gave me little to no support during a very stressful time in my life. No empathy, care, or concern did I receive from him and no trust, another justification for no longer wanting his representation. Money tossed away and I am utterly disappointed as this was my first time working with an attorney. After I chose to release this attorney I represented and advocated for myself and now I am officially divorced because of my self advocacy no thanks to Mr. Bains law firm.
