Brian Francis Simas

Brian Simas serves as general business and corporate counsel for local enterprises, including numerous large and small scale agribusiness and wine industry clients. He also is involved in the Firm’s real estate transactional practice and spends considerable time counseling clients in the areas of estate planning and business succession planning.

A native of Santa Maria, Brian obtained his undergraduate education from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Brian graduated from Cal Poly with honors and dual degrees – a B.A. in Agricultural Business, and a B.A. in Wine and Viticulture, with concentrations in Agri-Finance and Wine Business. In addition to his studies in agribusiness, enology, viticulture and the wine business, Brian worked in both the wine and legal industry extensively during school; working as a production assistant at a boutique Edna Valley winery, managing staff for the San Luis Obispo Vintner’s Association tasting room, and clerking at a local insurance defense firm.

While at Cal Poly, Brian was also a member of the Alpha Zeta Agriculture Honors Fraternity and served as President of Cal Poly’s Wine and Viticulture Club, the largest student run organization on campus.

Brian received his Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University School of Law in 2009. During his time at Pepperdine, Brian focused his legal studies on Business and Real Estate law. He was awarded a fellowship with Geoffrey H. Palmer Center for Entrepreneurship and the Law, served as Associate Editor of Pepperdine Law Review, presided as Chief Financial Officer of the Pepperdine Student Bar Association and competed on Pepperdine’s Trial Team.

After graduating from Pepperdine, Brian returned to Santa Maria to join KIRK & SIMAS.
