Michael is currently a legal research attorney for the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Barbara. Michael has some exposure to criminal law, but focuses primarily on probate and civil law. Michael researches a very broad spectrum of civil law and probate matters.
Before working for the Superior Court, Michael litigated real property matters where he primarily represented domestic and international banking institutions seeking to clear title to foreclosed properties. Michael also helped prosecute a plaintiff's suit against Chicago Title for professional negligence in title searches.
Before becoming an attorney with the Superior Court in Santa Barbara County, Michael worked as a clerk for the Superior Court in both San Francisco and Long Beach, and a research attorney in Bakersfield. During his time with those courts, Michael researched hundreds of law and motion matters in over 200 eminent domain cases, as well as personal injury, civil rights, and real estate transactions.
Michael's background also includes public policy research. During his first year out of law school, Michael conducted research for the Independent Institute on the issue of executive power expansion and drone policy in Central Asia and North Africa.
Michael loves the law, and his hobbies are mostly legal in nature. He enjoys reading about new developments in the law and public policy, as well as economics and political science. He also enjoys when UCLA Athletics gives someone a good beating on the collegiate battlefield, especially when the opponent is USC.

Brilliant Attorney
Mr. Acker helped me understand the flaws in my business contracts and estate plans. He has that rare eye for detail, combined with personal experience that helps him accurately asses risks. A truly amazing experience.
