Replied last April 07, 2015Damn typos! After we responded with proof that the claimant was lying, the demand from claimant's lawyer went from $160k down to just $5K. We told them to pound sand, and we never paid them a dime. We notified my carrier from the get go. It turns out that the carrier's claim counsel knew Mr. Colton professionally, and agreed to let us handle this ourselves in the preliminary stages to see if we could get rid of the claim. We refused the final $5K demand, and that was the end of the matter. My coverage was never compromised, my rates were never affected, and I didn't pay the claimant one cent. The statute ran a few years ago.
