I decided to hire him based on his convincing me that there could be motions to file, research to do, and at least somewhat of a fight that could be done. You see, this is a CPS case. A fight for my grandson who wa...s placed into the system, severed from his mother due to her lack of follow through. I came into the picture just after that, due to my own societal misconduct. Nothing so bad as to keep a child from his biological family. After numerous attempts to get to meet and bond with my grandson, CPS just kept stringing me along. I did all the RFA requirements, completed, at the direction of the CPS supervisor in my grandsons case , just to be told I did it in the wrong county. Couldn’t my attorney have stepped in and filed something? He did nothing. He didn’t even return my phone calls or emails ( and I sent many!) all I was ever told was he was still doing research. He didn’t even try for me. Today, I think (because I can’t get the information because it’s a juvenile case and privacy issues apply) is the final court date. I’ve lost the grandson I’ll never meet without so much as a first meeting with him. Once the case is closed, everyone closes the file and it will probably never cross their minds again. For my grandson and I it will be a lifetime of wonder and hurt and the missed opportunity to be a REAL family. Just something to think about when your attorney hunting....make sure they are as compassionate about your fight as you are. When it’s too late, it’s really over.
