I have nothing but good things to say about Ben Maserang. It has taken me a few years to write this because I couldn’t express in words how great full I am to him. . Ben and I got off on the wrong foot cause I was being a pompous person. Thinking I would never need a public defender and had all the m...oney I thought I would ever need. Guess what I lost it all!! And I found myself at the mercy of a public defender. My name is Joseph Jeffrey pinsonneault. I was up on 3 felonies and 2 misdemeanors. Facing some serious jail time. Ben fought the prosecution offered a deal with jail and I rejected it. After it was all said in done Ben got me 6 months of judicial review. Meaning if I didn’t get in trouble I was good. And guess what he did. Everything dismissed. He is a good man a good husband. Great father and just an overall good human being fighting for your rights. Thank you ben. Joseph j pinsonneault

Unfortunately I have had plenty of experience in dealing with and being represented by public defenders in various courts through out my days. And I've always been left feeling like I pretty much got what I paid for when all was said and done...which amounted to basically nothing in both respects. T...hat is, until I was represented by Benjamin Maserang in Ventura Superior Court. In the beginning stages of my case i was hospitalized causing me to miss court which really complicated things as I was out on bail. Not a good thing to miss court while on bail. My failure to communicate my situation resulted in my bail being revoked by the judge. I then basically disappeared for several years until finally, as one should expect, everything caught up with me and I was back in custody and back to face Ventura courts. Maserang had not been informed I would be in court that day, he was busy with other clients and the D.A., judge,his job of defending, etc..., but immediately opened his laptop when I approached him to remind him who I was after so long, right there in the middle of court he was willing and ready to represent and defend me on the spur of the moment and with no notice. Taking down info and preparing to speak to the judge for me even though my absence had been years in between. He gave me the time and ear that I never received from any other public defender and very much needed at the time. Since that day, every court day in between, and up until the close of my case today, he showed concern, he spent time listening, then he sat and spent time detailing every step we were going to take in order to best resolve the situation, he worked with the D.A. advocating on my behalf with documents i provided him and the result of his diligence was negotiating several felonies and yrs of evading the legal system down to 2 misdameanors, no jail time, and just summary probation!! With 3 prison priors under my belt, this I felt was a true miracle this man performed for me. And he was so humble about everything showing concern down to the very last moment fighting for me over restitution which was also reduced by thousands of dollars because of his attention to detail. By far the best experience dealing with this attorney. I am so grateful to him and only wish I was in the financial position to pay him myself for the attention he gave my case because I left court today truely feeling like Id cheated the system somehow by nit being slammed against the wall with attorney fees. The value of his service far exceeds whatever he collects as the Sr. Deputy Public Defender, which is also a title he is very modest and humble in attaching behind his name. I believe he deserves this review and was honestly surprised to be the first one here to give him one. I hope more people will step up to show their àppreciation.
