Very dissatisfied

I wish I had known of this site before I hired James J. Peters to make money off of me and do nothing for it. Words cannot express how dissatisfied I was with his services. First he does not handle the case at all. He makes you believe that he will use his so called experience to get a great deal. Ho...wever in reality he hands the case off to someone else then ignores all your attempts to explain the case facts then just settles and takes whatever is offered from the defendant employer. When I was told by him it looks best to take whatever the employer is offering and to close the case I asked what about all the things you promised me when we talked before I hired you. Basically I was told I could take the case to trial and pay $20,000 more for trial. After I already paid this hack $11000 just in case filing expenses to basically get the same deal I could have without an attorney there was no way I was going to pay him more. I just wish this prevents someone else from wasting their time and money on a guy that basically just runs a small settlement mill and provides nothing for his clients. Funny thing, his slogan is "Protecting Employee Rights"!

Dishonesty and incompetency at their worst

My lawyer who is supposed to stand for my rights, never did. I came to this lawyer with each and every document he could possibly need: I gave him about 600 pages worth of solid evidence but he did not utilize any! James J. Peters, during the Settlement Conference, seemed so oddly disconnected, diso...riented and clueless. I was so upset and aggravated, as I saw him joking with the defendants and the employer's lawyers at my presence and during the court hearings instead of discussing my rights that have been aggressively violated. This lawyer plays the game so cowardly to put it mildly. He said after finally devoting some time to look at my case that I would "definitely win" on "at least" the harassment and retaliation and possibly more things like the many proven discrimination and harassment actions against me, then a couple of months later after I hired him he started to describe my case as "weak and let us take what the employer is offering now" This lawyer obviously seems to treat me like I'm an idiot, I feel so disrespected, lied at, helpless, deceived, not to mention feeling so deprived and so alone in this process. This guy and his firm play in a very dirty way. I feel tormented by him, threatened beyond any ability to defend myself from my lawyer!! He uses his power over me to intimidate me. He does not seem to care about the needs or wants of his clients, he is not even willing to communicate interpersonally with them. If I could give James Peters a negative 100 Stars rating I would. I had heard bad things about lawyers before but I had doubts about them then (like some lawyers are deceiving etc.), this lawyer proved to me exactly that. Now after dealing with this attorney for months I'm paralyzed from even calling him again. James could not even tell me his grounds to call my case "weak" after he described it as "very strong" a couple of months earlier!. He seems not to know many details of my ordeal that I included in my reports and documents. He often tries to appear preoccupied by trivial things unrelated to the main issue in an effort to distract the attention from the legitimate complaints. It is baffling to other attorneys and to all my friends that my lawyer is still clueless about many basic and essential facts of my case, all these folks are baffled since I provided all the evidence long time ago. To me it is so obvious that I have been sold out for a quick cash, first I have been lured by this lawyer to file a claim against the employer with the usual sales talk about how he will "stand for your rights and get you a big settlement", once you're hooked, you will hear a different song with a totally different tune of early settlement for a pittance, why should James work hard on the case? to him there is no need at all, he will do a minimal work then he will want you to settle early and take his 40% contingency fee cut, shake your hand and call out "Next!" to the cases in his In Box, this way he can make money with the least possible effort and time, by the time you discover that you have been tricked it will probably be too late to get out of the trap, beware James is so skilled in playing this game, so avoid this guy or at least beware of his tricks.

Avoid avoid not recommended

I could not agree more with the other clients who gave this attorney negative feedbacks. I too unfortunately retained Mr. Peter's services several months ago for an employment matter. I was told that Mr. James J. Peters was a good attorney if you could get past his communication and ego problems. Mr.... James Peters had several months almost a year to prepare for the case. I found that every time I spoke to Mr. Peters it was like he was hearing the details of the case for the first time all over again. At depositions Mr. Peters was basically clueless as to the details and pertinent information about my case. I basically had to hand feed information to him as the hearings went along. Mr. James refused most of the information that I gave him and acted like he knew everything which he did not. He told me I had a weak case and he just repeated what my opponent said!, Mr. Peters was basically clueless again as to the facts of the case and abandoned my case without a notification for months and he told me eventually "your case is not worth pursuing". Faced with this situation I had to hire another attorney and it was a very good move, things now are much better, thanks to the efforts of my new attorney a nice 6-figure settlement has been secured and it is in the way to me within a couple of weeks. I hope others will learn from my lesson. Hiring Mr. Peters is a waste of time and money, I do not recommend this attorney at all.

The worst

Having this attorney represent me was one of my biggest mistakes in life, he just made some money off of me and did not accomplish ANY thing for me, the expenses I paid for the case are much more than the small amount the employer paid to settle the case. I could have won a decent settlement if I hir...ed any average lawyer or even if I did not hire any attorney at all and represented myself. In the opinion of several other attorneys who reviewed my case eventually and in my opinion too I lost my strong case solely because of this incompetent and carless lawyer who did practically nothing for the case and actually ruined it. It appeared to everyone that he effectively worked for the interests of my opponent not for my interests as a client, at the beginning I thought (maybe) he was following a certain strategy and he just needed some more time to succeed, but as the months went by I saw no progress at all. He did not make any real effort to collect any evidence or to research the case, he did not even utilize the enormous evidence that I provided, he did not try to reach any witnesses and ignored all my attempts to communicate with him, he even tried 2 times on the phone to pass himself off as his assistant to avoid questions, but his assistant told me that James himself was the one who actually talked to me. He accepted the first low offer from the employer to settle the case. My biggest mistake was that I hired him in the first place. I dealt with other lawyers before and I know the difference, James J. Peters by far is the worst.

Can not be trusted with anything serious

I hired James Peters for an employment issue, James appeared enthusiastic about the case initially but that started to fade away rather rapidly after filing a lawsuit against the employer, the communication became much poorer (almost non-existent after a few weeks). The employer company hired an a...ttorney to defend itself, James changed his tone from being my attorney to a neutral tone which surprised me a lot at the beginning, but soon I realized that as my case started to become complex James lost interest in the case and just wanted to finish the case regardless of the results to avoid a legal fight with the employer and I felt that he was ready to abandon me. When the employer offered to talk to settle the case James immediately initiated talks with them without my knowledge, and his tone shifted from neutral to actually trying to convince me to take whatever amount the employer would offer to settle the case, this came as a shock to me since it is a 180 degrees change in his position from very enthusiastic to just wanted to avoid any legal fight. All the facts and the evidence suggest that my case is still a very winnable case, nothing new that would suggest otherwise except that it may require more time and effort to go through the legal process, but that is what true lawyers are for, attorneys are supposed to stand for the rights and interests of their clients all the time but honestly James did not even come close to that. Maybe James can process simple cases or what we call slam-dunk cases but definitely I would not trust or recommend him for anything serious.
