M. Grant McArthur

I hired Grant McArthur for a family law custody hearing and paid a $3,000 flat fee. My understanding was that this fee covered up to two hearings, but he only appeared for one hearing and has refused to refund any portion of the fee. I hired him with about five days’ notice before the hearing. I h...ad originally been prepared to represent myself, but I got nervous before court and decided to hire an attorney because the matter was extremely important to me. In hindsight, I deeply regret that decision. My experience was extremely disappointing. In my opinion, he was not adequately prepared for the hearing. He misspelled my name on court documents, showed up late to court, and appeared to be unfamiliar with our current custody schedule, which was one of the most important facts in the case. When the judge asked questions, I felt his answers were confusing and did not accurately explain the situation. We walked into court expecting the judge to follow the mediator’s recommendation, which was to preserve the current custody schedule until trial. What should have been a fairly straightforward hearing turned into a catastrophic failure due to what I believe was a complete lack of preparation. After the hearing, my parenting time was reduced from approximately 15 days per month to only 6 days per month until trial. This was a devastating result in a custody matter involving my son. I hired an attorney because I needed someone to clearly present my facts, defend my parenting time, and advocate for me in court. I do not feel that happened. Important facts and evidence were not effectively raised, and I left court feeling like my side was not properly presented. Based on my experience, I would not recommend him. I walked away feeling like I paid $3,000 for representation that hurt my case more than it helped. Honestly, it felt like I paid $3,000 to have my case sabotaged rather than supported.

Mr. McArthur was an absolute godsend during my child custody dispute. He was incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate, and always ready to answer my questions. I genuinely felt like he was on my side, fighting for the best interests of my child. Thanks to Mr. McArthur's efforts, the outcome was much b...etter than I could have hoped for. I can't thank him enough and would highly recommend him to anyone facing a child custody issue.
