Neil Burnstein Fineman

Mr. Fineman is a seasoned attorney with thirty years of experience representing consumers in complex class actions against national and international corporations, organizations, and government entities engaged in unlawful, unfair, and fraudulent business practices. His work has led to significant victories for consumers, securing substantial monetary awards, injunctive relief, and institutional reforms in more than one hundred certified class actions, benefiting millions of his many notable accomplishments, Mr. Fineman served as lead counsel in the largest multi-party gift certificate and gift card class action in California history, representing consumers against twenty-two major retailers, including Target Stores, J.C. Penney, and Barnes & Noble. He also played a pivotal role as lead class counsel in Florez v. Linens ‘N Things, Inc., a landmark privacy rights case that resulted in the California Supreme Court's decision prohibiting retailers from collecting personal information during credit card transactions.

Additionally, Mr. Fineman was co-counsel in one of the world’s largest data breach cases, involving Yahoo!, as well as in one of the nation’s largest medical data breach cases against St. Joseph Health System. His extensive experience in privacy rights also includes representing numerous clients in cases related to the unlawful disclosure of criminal records online and the personal records of participants in the Safe at Home program, which helps victims of domestic violence and other crimes protect their identities.
In addition to his litigation work, Mr. Fineman is committed to advocating for consumer rights and serves as the California Co-State Chair for the National Association of Consumer Advocates. He is actively involved in a variety of legal rights organizations, working to safeguard consumers from unethical business practices.
