Barry Philip Goldstock

     I began private practice following law school (UCLA School of Law, 1967) and a one-year judicial clerkship.  I handled my first divorce case in October, 1969, just before California divorce law changed completely in January, 1970.  My practice and the new law evolved together.  From 1992 to 2020, I was certified by the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization as a Family Law Specialist and since 1992 I have limited my practice to family law matters only.   I have received recognition from legal publications as an outstanding lawyer, and I am rated "AV Preeminent 5 out of 5" by Martindale-Hubbell, the most respected rating service.  I belong to professional groups which concentrate on family law issues, and I keep up with new cases and new developments in my field. Clients say I listen carefully and try hard to solve problems, not create them.  I still enjoy what I do.

     After many years and thousands of cases, I now practice part-time and no longer go to court.  I focus on two family-law areas: preparing marital-related agreements, like prenuptial, postnuptial, and marital-settlement agreements; and mediation, where my lengthy experience and mediation training is useful in helping parties to work out divorce issues in a business-like manner, outside of court, so we can hold the financial and emotional costs to a minimum.  In those cases where court cannot be avoided, I work with other attorneys.      

     My wife and I have many interests, but we particularly enjoy traveling and spending time with friends and our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
