He is a member of the State Bar of California, as well as the Federal Bar for the Central District of California. He is also a current member of the American Bar Association, the Riverside County Bar Association, and the Orange County Bar Association.
He attended California State University for undergraduate and graduate school, and graduated from California Southern Law School, where he was the valedictorian of his law school class.
Additionally, he is a certified as an instructor by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST), and presents training to California Law Enforcement.
