I had a handful of Independent contractors three years ago, and the EDD initiated an audit claiming that they had been mis-classified. I tried working it out with the EDD since the auditor appeared to be nice and reasonable, but I quickly understood that the end game for the EDD was to reclassify irr...espective of what information I gave them. So I shortlisted and spoke to some lawyers from this site and decided to work with Mr Sean Golding primarily because of his grasp of the issues involved; his Tax experience in addition to EDD; and also because he was very accessible and easy to talk to.
